Maribyrnong River at Moonee Ponds
Despite the pleasant scene, painting was difficult due to the proliferation of passers-by who were a little too keen to offer suggestions. They tended to interrupt the flow.

Workshop at Rosebery Hill, Pipers Creek
I'd work up a bad pun about this glorified tool-shed only I don't want to talk shop.

Laneway off Fitzgibbon Street, Parkville
On this particular morning, I found a scene to paint only a few steps from my door. The close proximity to my house meant that I could take my time and experience life in the slow lane.

Copper Kettle with Plastic Fruit
Each of these pieces of fruit is merely a plastic simulacrum--a bit like the real thing only a different kettle of fish.

Rear of Parkville Store from Butler Lane, Parkville
Sunday's beautiful sunny afternoon cast strong shadows across this Parkville laneway--a scene in fact, that was right up my alley (well, a neighbouring alley technically, otherwise it would have been right up my street).

Rear of House from Bayles Street, Parkville
After many months of imprisonment imposed by the cold and grey winter weather, I was out on Bayles painting in the spring sunshine.

Blue Castor Oil Bottle with Mandarine
Rather than making a bad pun about a mandarine and a bottle, I think I'll peel off and put a cork in it.

Back Study
Not so much back to the drawing board as back to the easel. (Four-week class exercise.)

Lemon-Scented Gum, Royal Park
Spring has sprung and the temperate weather has brought some rather pleasant mornings. Indeed, as depicted here, happiness is a warm gum.

Lamp-Post in Australian Native Garden, Royal Park
The Australian Native Garden at Royal Park was designed by Grace Fraser in the mid-nineteen seventies and is devoted interesting Australian native trees and shrubs; however, I suspect the illuminating feature of this painting might be an introduced species.

Copper Jug with Carrot
According to Wikipedia, "Eighteen karat red gold may be made of 25% copper and 75% gold". In comparison, my little painting consists of 50% copper of only one carrot.

While I might not necessarily be a shadow of my former self, this is my former self (circa Tuesday morning) partially in shadow.

Pear with Silver-Plated Jug
A pear and a jug with an obscured handle--not to be confused with poor old George Frideric Handel, for whom everything was obscured.
