Still Life with Bone Handle Knife and Onion

Still life oil painting of a bone handle knife, an onion and an enamelware cup
This painting didn't quite turn out as I'd hoped: I think I'd better bone up a little so I really know my onions.

Off Dunbars Road, Carlsruhe

Landscape oil painting of a eucalypt with farm buildings behind
This painting is pretty much finished -- it's all Dunbar the shouting.

Oil on canvas board, 12" x 16"

Carlsruhe Railway Station

Landscape oil painting of a Victorian-era railway station
I found there was a certain degree of difficulty painting this building from such an angle causing me to wonder if perhaps I had ideas above my station.

Tomato with Brown Schnapps Bottle

Still life oil painting of a tomato beside a brown glass bottle
I pick my tomatoes ripe, and I pick my bottles wisely.

Off Breakneck Road, Near Malmsbury

This is somewhat larger than my usual outdoor effort, so it was essential to paint quickly (though not quite at the speed suggested by the location).

Apple with Small Blue Vase

Still life oil painting of an apple beside a small blue vase
The vase played a blue note; the apple struck a cored.

Pipers Creek Landscape

Landscape oil painting of rolling hills with two cows in the foreground
I was painting these rolling hills when a couple of cows hooved into view.

Silo, East Metcalfe

Landscape oil painting of a small grain silo near trees with a distant hill
I'm worried that the reproduction of this silo painting might be a bit grainy.

Kyneton from Pleasant Hill Road

Landscape oil painting of rolling hills, cows and a collection of distant trees
This is the fifth painting I've posted featuring Pleasant Hill Road -- you could say I rode the gravy train.

Oil on canvas board, 8" x 10"

P.S. I reckon this might be a very similar scene to the one Graeme Inson painted here (http://thepictorialcollection.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/04/100_1220_Fotor_20130407.jpg) which I've been trying to find for many years.

Mount Macedon from Pleasant Hill Road, Kyneton

Landscape oil painting of trees and buildings with a distant mountain range
This was a quick sketch and I wasn't sure if it would amount to anything (except maybe for a mount).

Pleasant Hill Road, Kyneton

Pleasant Hill Road has been the subject of many of my recent paintings; it seems I just can't dispense with the pleasantries.

Small Copper Ewer with Pear

A pitcher might be worth a thousand words, but a ewer is worth much fewer (though certainly more than a pair).

Manna Gum, Pleasant Hill Road, Kyneton

Landscape oil painting of a eucalyptus tree with distant undulating hills
I've painted a lot of manna gums: different times, different mannas.

Pleasant Hill Road, Kyneton

Pleasant Hill Road does indeed live up to its name; so pleasant, in fact, you could say I really took to the hill.

Still Life with Porcelain Jug and Apple

Still life oil painting of a small white porcelain jug, an apple and a blue castor oil bottle
This is a painting done as a demo for Emilio Longo's Skill-Based Art: A Learning Resource for Art Students & Artist-Teachers™  (https://skillbasedart.weebly.com/).  The demo should be on the website early in the new year.

There will also be an interview with yours truly, though I'm embarrassed to say I spoke for almost three hours in a tedious ramble about myself.

Benjamin Disraeli is alleged to have said "Talk to a man about himself and he will listen for hours"; in my case it seems if one asks a man about himself he will talk for hours (literally).

Still Life with Bone Handle Knife

Oil painting of a bone handle knife, a green apple and other items.

This was going to be a painting about an apple, but I killed that idea when I put the knife in.

Still Life with Lemon and Ladle

Oil painting of a soup ladle, a lemon, an enamelware pot and other items.

Knock knock
Who's there?
Soup ladle
Soup ladle who?
Sue played a little tune on the piano.

Sorry, that joke's a lemon.

Harts Lane, Kyneton

Oil painting of a landscape depicting a road with a train crossing
Although I drove to this location, I had to walk around a bit before I found the scene I wanted to paint.  You could say, I put Hart and sole into it.

Hodges Road, East Metcalfe

Oil painting of a landscape with shadows across a road

I didn't meet a calf when I was in Metcalfe, but there were plenty of cows.

Still Life with Small Copper Jug

Oil painting of a copper jug with onions and other items

Onions are brown, pumpkins are green,
And a small copper jug is the star of the scene.
