A feeble attempt to bring back to life
Oil on canvas board, 16" x 20"
Daily painting exercises in tonal realism since February 2013; adorned with terrible puns since 2014.

Red Pepper with Silver-Plated Vase
Vases are silver, peppers are red;
I'm up writing couplets when I should be in bed.

Persimmon with Sauce Jug
Sauce jugs are blue, fruit I think not;
Unless there's a blue fruit of which I forgot.
Oh, blueberries.

Merri Creek at Coburg Lake Reserve
Within the reserve, I worked without reserve, keeping nothing in reserve.

House at Rosebery Hill, Pipers Creek
The rapidly fading winter light caught me by surprise, leaving me with a half-finished painting. I suppose that makes this a halfway house.

Portrait of a Grey-Haired Woman
Painting portraits can sometimes be a test of the grey (subject) matter.

Banana on Saucer
This intergalactic fruit arrived in a flying saucer hoping to set up a banana republic.

Derelict House with Camels Hump near Mount Macedon
This painting is hardly going to bring the house down, though the house might take care of the matter itself.
Oil on canvas board, 8" x 10"
P.S. To clear up any ambiguity in the title, the house does not, in fact, have the hump of a camel--the hump is merely a geological feature depicted in the background.

Egg in Old Fashioned Glass
After setting up this still life, I thought I might have a crack (but thankfully both egg and glass were intact).

Former Butcher Shop, North Melbourne
The fact this butcher shop is closed probably has much to do with the price of meat.

Paper Mill, Alphington
The rumour mill--amongst my fellow painters--had it that this building is set for demolition. As it has had its marching papers, we thought it best, while it still stands, to get it down on paper (or canvas as it is here).
