The morning was marked by persistent misty rain, so I eventually surrendered to the inevitable and found a dry spot from which to paint the sodden countryside. After about ten minutes the sun came out. It may be the only time I've ever been disappointed by the appearance of our radiant friend.
Oil on canvas board, 10" x 8"
Daily painting exercises in tonal realism since February 2013; adorned with terrible puns since 2014.

Schoolmaster's Residence, Old Pipers Creek School
A residence without a resident (as one might gather from this slightly dilapidated building).

Miniature Vase with Banana
Vases are white, bananas are gold; as a pattern of rhyme, this form's getting old.

Sauce Jug with Lemon
Switzerland's Lake Toma--according to Wikipedia--is generally regarded as the source of the Rhine. This painting is generally regarded (or by me at least) as the sauce of the rind.

Royal Children's Hospital, Royal Park, Melbourne
When I was a child, I imagined that the Royal Children's Hospital was a palatial hospital for royal children.

Woman with Red Scarf
As I painted this picture, I found myself becoming too wrapped up in the scarf, so I had to do an about face.

Red Pepper with Milk Jug
Peppers, such as this red pepper, are of the nightshade family. Similarly, this milk jug has a certain amount of shading and was painted at night.

House near Mouth of Erskine River, Lorne, Victoria
After two days of painting of the ocean, I decided to face inland and paint a picture of a house--I needed a sea change.

View from Teddy's Lookout, Lorne, Victoria
I'm not entirely sure why teddies are advised to look out at this location, but it might be because of flying art supplies (this was painted largely with one hand on the easel in an attempt to prevent it from blowing away in the wind).

Torpedo Bottle in Tea Towel
It may not be entirely obvious that this is a torpedo bottle because the tapered bottom is mostly obscured by the tea towel. The tapered bottom is not to be confused with a tapir's bottom, which in this picture is entirely obscured.

Onion with Small Vase
I'm too lazy to devise yet another pun relating to onion and a vase; instead I'm simply going to veg out and thus fail to urn my readers' admiration (or condemnation, depending on one's attitude to the highest form of humour).
