Mandarine with Jug

Oil painting of a white porcelain jug with blue designs beside a mandarine.
Jugs and pieces of fruit are commonly depicted in my paintings, and as such, one might say that this piece is in much the same vein as many of my other works.  Additionally, due to the prevalence of jugs, one might say it's in much the same jugular vein.

Oil on canvas board, 4" x 6"

  1. I have to say, this is a very interesting project you've got going on, this "A pun a day" thing. And it speaks of your dedicated to your craft that you even go to the effort of illustrating the puns.

In all seriousness though, you've got some great ability. I like how you've captured the soft, slightly translucent look of the jug. In the video graphics world, that involves an advanced technique known as subsurface scattering, and I imagine it takes some considerable skill to achieve it manually with paint.

    Hope you're doing well.
